Oatmeal Balls

In Denmark we have a great Christmas tradition of making Oatmeal balls. But even though they taste absolutely amazing, we have to realize that it isn't a very healthy tradition. The traditional Danish "Havregrynskugle" (Oatmeal Ball in Danish) is, in fact, only containing (loads of) butter, oats, cacao and desiccated coconut, so these aren't what to eat if you want to stay fit! But there is, as there often is to unhealthy food, a healthier counterpart! Let me present you; the healthy oatmeal ball!

All you need to make these healthy oatmeal balls is:

  • 230 g oats
  • 50 g almonds
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tsp cacao
  • 9 dates
  • 1,4 dl water

Making these healthy oatmeal ball is very easy! All you need to do is:
  • Grind up the almonds, dates (with the seeds taken out) and oats in a foodprocesser
  • Add the rest of the ingredients until a dough starts to form.
  • Roll into balls and put them into the fridge for 1 hour

There you go! Enjoy healthy oatmeal balls!

#TIP Roll the balls in desiccated coconut to add extra flavour

Happy 1st December!

xx Emma
